Yvonne Moorhouse - Spring Newsletter April 25

WELCOME TO MY SPRING NEWSLETTER 16TH APRIL 2025 Dear Friends It's been a long while since I wrote a newsletter but after coming off Facebook and Instagram I thought some of you might like to hear what I am up to in my art life. Spring couldn't be a better time to start a new venture as a time of new life and growth. EXHIBITION In fact ' Spring' is the theme of artwork being displayed by ROAR (Rotherham Arts Renaissance) in an empty retail unit, to be found just before the bridge over to Forge Island.  All the artists are ROAR members     (Sorry for the reflections). You can't fail to miss these artworks if you are walking to ARC Cinema or the new Travelodge. WHAT AM I CREATING? Over the past couple of years I have been making artists books and book structures.  This is ongoing and these are some recent works - flag books.     I am looking for a venue to exhibit these, so watch this space for a future event.  One idea I am pursuing is showi...

Solo Exhibition at Buzz Gallery

NOW SHOWING IN ROTHERHAM @ ROAR, WESTGATE STUDIOS Venue If you are in Rotherham Town Centre, go and have a look at my exhibition.  It largely consists of unframed limited edition prints, selling for a mere £30, take one away and choose your own frame.  The show is at the Buzz Gallery, so called because you have to buzz the intercom to get in. Full address; ROAR Art Space, 2nd Floor Westgate Chambers, Westgate, Rotherham, S60 1AN http://www.rotherhamroar.com/ Influences My work is influenced by landscape and nature and places I love.  The works are moody and have lots of texture and various colour schemes.  As you can see from the images above the seashore often features in my artwork because I spend my holidays on the South West coast of the Republic of Ireland. Although I have been visiting the area around Waterville, on the Ring of Kerry, for alot of years I am constantly inspired by the changing light and atmosphere of the coastal l...

Latest news including China trip

Image
Dear All, Well it's been a while since I was in touch with my news, that's because I've been here and back again over the last few months.   Hope you've all managed to stay happy despite the wet, wet Summer.  What a disaster for the veggie patch, but as Monty Don (Gardener's World) pointed out it has only been a bad summer for gardeners not gardens, as some plants and veg have thrived! I have been over to County Kerry, Southern Ireland a couple of times - one of my favorite places especially for inspiring views and lovely light.  In September I was part of an Artfest in Ballinskelligs, more about in my next newsletter. But what about Chengdu, Western China... Going to Chengdu, China - as one of only two artists from the Sheffield region was so exciting, inspiring and an all round amazing experience.  I've never been to a place so hot and humid, and typical of an English person, the weather was the predominant element that influenced my artwork ...

June/July Newsletter

3rd July 2012 Dear All, Had a fabulous time salmon fishing in May.  The River Thurso was as beautiful as ever and we saw lots of wonderful wildlife including Red deer, a Marsh Harrier, and Wheatears.  Two delightful grey wagtails were making love in the Spring sunshine opposite where I was fishing. Yes, after the hailstorms and snow showers, in mid May if you please, we did get a couple of sunny days (not so good for fishing). *Breaking news* Exciting news received this week!  I am going to Chengdu, China - as one of only two artists from the Sheffield region invited to visit and work there through CreativeSheffield.  They are twinned with Chengdo. Two pieces of work will be exhibited at the Painting Exhibition scheduled from 11-14 September at the Pride International Conference Center along with 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference (CIFCC).  They will then be on show at the International Museum at Tianfu Squar...
