Latest news including China trip

Dear All, Well it's been a while since I was in touch with my news, that's because I've been here and back again over the last few months.   Hope you've all managed to stay happy despite the wet, wet Summer.  What a disaster for the veggie patch, but as Monty Don (Gardener's World) pointed out it has only been a bad summer for gardeners not gardens, as some plants and veg have thrived! I have been over to County Kerry, Southern Ireland a couple of times - one of my favorite places especially for inspiring views and lovely light.  In September I was part of an Artfest in Ballinskelligs, more about in my next newsletter. But what about Chengdu, Western China... Going to Chengdu, China - as one of only two artists from the Sheffield region was so exciting, inspiring and an all round amazing experience.  I've never been to a place so hot and humid, and typical of an English person, the weather was the predominant element that influenced my artwork ...

3rd July 2012 Dear All, Had a fabulous time salmon fishing in May.  The River Thurso was as beautiful as ever and we saw lots of wonderful wildlife including Red deer, a Marsh Harrier, and Wheatears.  Two delightful grey wagtails were making love in the Spring sunshine opposite where I was fishing. Yes, after the hailstorms and snow showers, in mid May if you please, we did get a couple of sunny days (not so good for fishing). *Breaking news* Exciting news received this week!  I am going to Chengdu, China - as one of only two artists from the Sheffield region invited to visit and work there through CreativeSheffield.  They are twinned with Chengdo. Two pieces of work will be exhibited at the Painting Exhibition scheduled from 11-14 September at the Pride International Conference Center along with 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference (CIFCC).  They will then be on show at the International Museum at Tianfu Squar...

Since my last post I have spent some time on the south west coast of Ireland, in County Kerry.  I find this place a great source of inspiration every time I go there.  Aren't April showers and sunshine just gorgeous? Great news since my return: Coming soon... - Three of my digital collages have been accepted to be exhibited large and prominently in Rotherham town centre as part of the Gallery Town project (http://www.gallerytown.org.uk/), May onwards (exact date to be announced)  - Two of my artworks will be part of the Holmfirth Art Week (http://www.holmfirthartweek.org.uk/)  taking place 1st to 7th July 2012 Currently showing -  'Hung' A3 artwork at ROAR, Imperial Buildings, High St, Rotherham.  The second ROAR exhibition including a range of work by members. I think Spring has sprung, hope you are enjoying the lovely weather.  Why not get out and about, I've got some ideas for you... Places to visit - artwork to see : Until 10th April - ONE exhibition - ROAR (Rotherham Art Renaisance), Imperial Buildings, High St, Rotherham.  This exhibition is in an atrium surrounded by newly refurbished buildings which house really  interesting and arty shops, well worth a visit especially if you haven't paid Rotherham town centre a visit for a while. 16th March to 22nd April - Miniatures - Cupola Contemporary Art, Middleswood Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield.  Small artwork, no larger than a £20 note, from Footrill Cottage, Skiers Spring and around the world. Opening night on 16th March at 17.30 to 21.30  31st March and 1st April - pop-up market - Currently Crafted @ The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield.  A mix of art and craft from wonderfully talented member  of Pennine Artists in a lovely old building. ...
